FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
What are your rates?
Our pickup fee is $3.00, we charge $2.20 per mile, and our wait time is 30 cents per minute ($18.00 per hour). Flat rates are available to airports, casinos, and regular destinations for weekly customers. Minimum rates ($6.00 - $8.00) apply for short rides within the same town.
Where do you pick up passengers?
Normally, our boundaries are Lake Michigan (north), Grant Street in Gary (east), US Highway 30 (south), and State Road 49 (west) in Northwest Indiana. Other pickup locations may be arranged if the passenger will be dropped off within these boundaries.
Are your drivers safe?
All of our drivers are subject to BMV approval and state background checks. We also think they’re the nicest taxi drivers in the area!
What kinds of vehicles do you operate?
We try to have both minivans and cars on the road at all times. We find that some customers are not able to climb into a minivan, and some customers need more room than a car can provide. Requests for either type of vehicle will be honored whenever possible.
Is there assistance available for the elderly and the disabled?
Absolutely. Our drivers will offer to help anyone in and out of the vehicle, and will stow wheelchairs or walkers in the back of the vehicle for our customers. In addition, the drivers will be glad to load shopping bags into the vehicle, and to carry shopping bags to the front porch of the customer’s home.
Can I set up a charge account with 24-7 Taxi Cab?
Charge accounts may be created with management approval. Terms are usually net 20 days. Click here for more information on setting up a charge account with us.
How long should I expect to wait for a taxi to arrive?
Our average wait time is around 15 to 20 minutes. However, the best plan is to call us at least 30 minutes before you need a taxi, if you can.
Is there anything I can do to make sure I’m on time for appointments?
Yes. If you know you need to be somewhere at a certain time, you may call from one hour up to a week in advance and let the dispatcher know what day you need a taxi and exactly what time you need to be picked up. If we know about this in advance, we will rearrange our schedule so that one of our drivers is available when you need him.
What if I need to cancel a ride?
If you need to cancel, please call our dispatcher as soon as possible. If you don’t call us before the driver arrives, you will need to pay that driver a $5.00 “no-load fee” for his gas and time spent to honor your original request. Unpaid “no-load fees” will need to be paid before future requests will be honored. |
